A group of young people from Network Challenge came to help run a coffee morning at the Centre in September. Here they are with some of the Centre’s volunteers.

Mike, William, Suzanne and Tracy accept the Ice Bucket Challenge in September. Suzanne, an OCSC Counsellor did it memory of one of her clients, Claire Andrew (who is sadly missed at the Centre)

Joanne Ward handing over £150 to Chairman, Beryl Vale, which she raised in sponsorship for taking part and completing the OCSC 10K Walk/Run in Brookdale Park in June this year.

Twins Jane Clark and Tracy Butterworth hold a special celebratory cake at a Family Fun Day they organised for us at the Moorside Tavern in June.

Members of the Zumba Group who meet in the church hall at Holy Family Church, Lord Lane, Failsworth, held a a sponsored Zumbathon in April this year.

A wonderful fundraising evening of songs from the musicals was provided by “Musical Friends” in February. Fantastic!

3M Raises £554!

 

Beryl and Pam from Oldham Cancer Support Centre being presented the cheque from the site manager of 3M (October 2013). The money was raised by the staff at 3M holding several fundraising events over the past few months- Thank you 3M

10k Walk/Run at BROOKDALE PARK Saturday 15th June

MANCHESTER 10K RUN - Sunday 18th May

May 2012- Chris Metcalf (who works for Direct Line, part of the RBS Group) ran the London Marathon for Oldham Cancer Support Centre. Chris raised over £1,000, thank you Chris.

March 2012- Pam Williams (OCSC Secretary) receiving a cheque for £3,600 from Brenda Gates, the Lady Captain of Saddleworth Golf Club. This was the result of a year's fundraising by the club, when a lot of hard work was put in by many members.

We had lots of runners in the 10K race who raised lots of money for OCSC, thanks to them all.

January 2012- OCSC Chairman, Beryl Vale, recieving a cheque for £1,000 from Jen Whitworth, Chairman of the Saddlworth WI. Oldham Cancer Support Centre was chosen a one of their three annual charities. We are very grateful to them. 

Mountain climb & Pub fundraiser

 

MONEY raised for charity from a mountain climb was boosted by a pub fundraiser to a whopping £6,030.
Special-needs teacher Fiona Southall (38) and six friends raised £3,200 for Oldham Cancer Support Centre by conquering Ben Nevis.
It took the Shaw mum, who battled breast cancer and osteoporosis, nine hours to reach the summit of the 4,400ft Scottish mountain.

A cheque presentation took place at Heyside’s Angel Inn, Shaw Road, on Saturday, with the pub also holding a fundraising evening to boost the final total to £6,030. It involved a raffle and auction, with star prizes including Manchester City and Oldham Athletic signed shirts.

THE Woman of Oldham Committee

 

Each year the committee supports local charities through fund-raising events, which this year included a market stall, wine tasting and quiz, tapas evening at the Three Crowns, Scouthead, and the prestigious annual Woman of Oldham Award luncheon which was held in September at the White Hart in Lydgate.

Bowling

 

BOWLS: THE Oldham Cancer Support Centre has received a much-needed £950 boost thanks to the generosity of local crown green bowlers.

December 2011- Staff and volunteers at Vicky Sowerby's final fundraising event (Vicky s in the middle). Vicky wore a different outfit every day for a year and posted a photo of herself online each day. She promised not to buy a single new item of clothing during that time, but was allowed to make things. She raised over £6,000 for the Centre- absolutely amazing!
